Lawrence Reed Jr., also known as, Simp, was born on April 9, 1948 in Hoopa, California.

Simp was an avid hunter and fisherman. At age 15, Simp was the youngest baseball player on the Hoopa Town Team. His love for the sport would continue until he retired his glove at age 53.

Simp is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sharon. His children Shannon, Lisa and Radenia Reed, Phillip (Ashley) Reed, Lashon (Kia) Reed, Oscar (Georgiana) Gensaw, James (Melanie) Gensaw, Shoshoni (David) Hostler. His children at heart Allie Hostler, Teresa and Louis Mitchell. His grandchildren Melissa, William, Makayla, Buck, Thayallen, David, Oskee, Queen, James, Tescha, Chey, Sofia, Olivia, Kautia, We-se-naw, Akira, Dwayne, Paris, Leora and Phillip. His siblings Barbara (Bob) Rakestraw, Ron (Crystal) Reed, Butch Reed, Raldon Brown, Sr., Greg Trimble, Becky (Mike) Carroll, Tosh Tatum and Doneen Trimble.

Simp is preceded in death by his sons Dwayne Reed and Dwight Hostler. Siblings Sherrie Reece, Ethel Reed, Billy Reed, Mooney Trimble and Roddy Trimble. His parents Lawrence and Delores Reed.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Johnsons Indian Shaker Church. Services will be officiated by Joseph LeMieux. Burial will be held at the Wautec Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception following the burial at the Morek Won building on McKinnon Hill.
