The city of Rio Dell made national television when a humorous clip from a local police log was read aloud on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week.
DeGeneres read the clip on Thursday’s episode during a reoccurring segment called “Oh, Puh-lice.”
However, DeGeneres fails to mention that the news clip in question is at least 20 years old.
After some thorough Googling, LoCO discovered that the blotter piece has been rehashed a number of times through the years, and can be traced all the way back to a San Francisco Chronicle piece written in 1996.
Because “Ellen’s” Youtube copyright policies are a bit stricter than most, we were unable to embed the show’s video here. But you can click this link for a higher quality video.
