Humboldt County Sheriff Deputies
On Monday, February 29, 2016, at about 6:30 a.m. Humboldt County Sheriff Deputies responded to Ray’s Food Place in McKinleyville for a theft report. It was reported to deputies the suspect was an adult male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, last seen walking northbound on Central Ave. While en route, deputies passed a subject matching this description, walking northbound on Central Ave with a plastic shopping bag.
Deputies turned their vehicles around and tried following the subject, later identified as 25 year old transient Justin Patrick. Patrick fled from deputies, and dropped the shopping bag along with his wallet. Patrick ran through business parking lots in attempts to evade deputies. Deputies began to pursue Patrick on foot. Patrick finally listened to deputies commands and stopped running.
Patrick was positively identified as the subject stealing from Ray’s Food Place. He was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for petty theft and resisting arrest. The estimated value of the items stolen is $9.
