UPDATE, 9:34 a.m.: Hold the phone! County roads is delaying their Wildcat road work one day. Here’s this morning’s update:

Mattole Road will be closed at mm 12.15 to replace a culvert on Wednesday March 23 from 9-4.  Due to the rain it has been pushed back a day.

Plan accordingly.

Take note, Mateelians: The Humboldt County Department of Public Works is going to shut down the Wildcat tomorrow. Here’s the typically terse note the department sent out a few days ago:

Mattole Road will be closed Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at mile marker 12.15 to replace a culvert.

Looks like just the first salvo in a coming battle against the decrepitude of the Mattole Road. Last week, North Coast News did a story about the sorry state of the Wildcat, and how the county is going to throw some Measure Z cash its way. Check it! Jeremy Chen talks with Petrolia cabin-haver Jack Rimson, who we strongly suspect is somehow related to the LoCO’s own Gina Rimson, doyenne of the “Elsewhere” section.
