The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a mysterious death that occurred early this morning SoHum. 

According to Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza, HCSO public information officer, law enforcement received a call from staff at Jerold Phelps Community Hospital in Garberville around 2:10 this morning reporting that a security guard had come across an unresponsive male outside the entrance to the emergency room.

It was unclear how the body ended up there. Soon after, the unidentified man was declared deceased by medical staff. 

Cause of death is still under investigation by the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office and the man’s identity is still unknown at this time. Once determined, it will be withheld until family can be notified.
