Jared Huffman, Humboldt’s lovably tall congressman, has a Facebook page. For better or worse, many of his constituents are aware of this wonderful, playing field-leveling Facebook page and have taken up keyboards and smart phones to let Huff — who has publicly voiced his support of Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy — know that they support Bernie Sanders and he, as their superdelegate, should too.

A sampling of how strongly they feel:

… and so on. In a similar spirit, a few online petitions have popped up on websites like Change.org urging Huffman to cast his superdelegate vote according to the will of the voters in his district and state — California holds its primary election on June 7. Here’s an excerpt from one example:

Democracy vs. Superdelegates. Even though California has not yet held its primary election, more than half of the superdelegates from California, including the 2nd Congressional District’s member of Congress, Jared Huffman, have already pledged their support to Hillary Clinton. As a representative of this district, Congressman Huffman should announce that he will defer to the decision that its Democratic voters make and — as a superdelegate — vote accordingly at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

Whatchu gonna do, Huff?

Well guess what, democracy lovers! Jared hears you, for the most part! As such he took to Facebook this morning to make clear how he will wield his superdelegate superpowers come nominatin’ time stating that “if Senator Sanders were to win a majority of pledged delegates at the polls then he would become the Democratic nominee at the convention — and he would have the support of superdelegates like me.” Congressman Huffman’s full Facebook post below

Regarding my “superdelegate” vote in the Democratic Presidential nominating process, I want to clarify a few things…

Capiche? The Huff promises to feel the Bern in the event that the rest of the country does too. Please let him know, somehow, somewhere, if you are OK with this position. Hmm. Oh! Here’s a place.
