Journalism graduate Javier Rojas savors the moment. Photos of the 2016 HSU Commencement by John Ross Ferrara.

As the rain poured into Redwood Bowl this morning, another generation of saplings walked across the hallowed Humboldt State commencement stage.

While families huddled under the awning of the away bleachers, graduates used their big brains to construct makeshift umbrellas out of pamphlets and silly hats.

The rain lasted for the entire ceremony, and finally let up as the newly decorated alumni wandered out into the real world. But soggy robes or not, these fresh-faced lumberjacks were all smiles.

Congrats grads! Now get out there and save the world.
