Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:
On 5/13/16 at about 0542 hrs., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an armed robbery just occurred at the McKinleyville Shell gas station located at 1606 Central Avenue. The cashier reported a WMA entered the business, brandished what he believed to be an “all black .45 caliber semi-auto handgun” and demanded the money in the register. The cashier complied and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of currency from the cash register. Suspect then fled east across Central and possibly utilized the transient trail paralleling Sandpiper Lane, or fled in an unknown vehicle. Deputies searched the area on foot but were unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as the following: white, male adult approximately, 20-30 years old, about 5’-5” tall, with medium build, wearing a black ski mask, black jacket, black pants, and black gloves.
