Readers send word that a big ol’ law enforcement convoy headed up Highway 36 this morning. Says one:
Bout 7 or so sheriffs. They have a chipper. Game on!
But Lt. Wayne Hanson of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office tells us that this is not a Sheriff’s Office operation, nor yet a Humboldt County Drug Task Force operation, but a raid led by an “allied state agency.” The Sheriff’s Office, he said, is just along to support and assist.
Sorry we couldn’t narrow it down for you further. Hanson couldn’t tell us exactly where the convoy was headed. He said he didn’t know — and we believe him! — but it’s not likely he would have told us in any case.
