Peggy Delores Pfingsten went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in Eureka after being bedridden for about six months. She was born July 15, 1926 to Lemuel T. and Mary Anna Carter in Glendale, Calif. She grew up and went to school in North Hollywood, where she met her true love, Jack L. Pfingsten. They were married for almost 69 years when Jack passed in 2011.

They eloped to Quartzsite, Arizona in 1942. They moved back to their homes and didn’t mention the marriage. During the secret elopement their car broke down and they walked home, returning without a car.

After having a son, James, in Glendale, they moved to Goldhill, Oregon following Peggy’s parents and later had a daughter, Peggy Sue. In 1949 they moved to Maple Creek, where they raised their children. Peggy is remembered as having sandwiches and soup ready for her children each and everyday for lunch.

Peggy was an Avon representative for a good run of 30 years, where she made several relationships and met many friends.

One of mom’s hobbies was raising Pekinese puppies. Between her and Dad they always had a little companion. Mom enjoyed camping with her family and friends, creating and sharing wonderful times.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her lifelong husband, her daughter and grandson Jimmy. She leaves behind her son, James aka Jim, daughter-in-law Wilma, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many friends.

A gracious gratitude to Redwood R & R staff for all the wonderful care that they gave mom as she was embarking on her departure. Also, Humboldt Hospice for their care they provided, a special acknowledgment to Julie Van Dolah, RN, BSN.

The family has asked to please make contributions to the Hospice of Humboldt in Peggy’s honor, instead of flowers.
Arrangements for a private gravesite will be made at a later date.
