Voting is a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. In this LoCO video report we head down to the Elections Office to talk to early voters about Proposition 64 and everything else on this year’s very long ballot.

“I just tried to study through them, see different points of view, and read through the manual that we were provided with,” said McKinleyville resident Linda Evans.” But it was a lot to expect the voters to read through that and understand it all.

Prop 64, California’s adult use of marijuana act has been one of the most widely talked about. It would legalize cannabis for those 21 and up, impose a state tax on retail and cultivation which could bring in approximately 1 billion dollars annually, and change prior marijuana convictions. This decision will come six years after 53.5 percent of California voters rejected a similar initiative.
