Kelly Marie Alcorn was freed from her earthly bounds and cares to join the Lord and her loved ones who have gone before on September 25, 2016. Kelly was born November 6th, 1986 at Eureka California to Michael and Suzanne Alcorn. She passed peacefully at her home after spending a wonderful day with her mother and cousins enjoying the beauty of the outdoors around the north county.

Kelly was raised in Eureka and attended school at Lafayette, Washington, Eureka High and College of the Redwoods. She was a member of the Navy JROTC and the International Order of Job’s Daughters during her school years. She was an excellent student of the violin. Her vocation and also her avocation was caregiving, which she did out of her love for people. She also greatly enjoyed beadwork and making beautiful necklaces and bracelets for her family and friends.

Always full of mischief, when Kelly was two she liked to climb into the empty crab cooking pot on the kitchen table. Her mother warned her numerous times that she was growing every day and sooner or later she would get stuck. One afternoon her mother turned around to see her sitting in the pot and completely unable to get out. After greasing her up she still could not be removed. The Eureka Fire Department rushed to the rescue and once they were able to stop laughing they managed to remove her by cutting up her father’s crab cooker with the jaws of life.

One Christmas when Kelly was in her teens, the family awoke to find every last present missing from around the tree and a note from Santa scolding us for not leaving out cookies. Kelly had a great laugh before she led us to the shed in the yard to retrieve the presents and get on with the festivities.

Her family has many happy memories of travels and camping trips from the wilds of Montana to the deserts of the southwest and many more right here in Humboldt. Most recently she ventured with her dad to Arizona to visit her grandfather, who was spending some time in the hospital. She was a blessing to both her father and grandfather during this difficult time.

During the past five years she was devoted to helping care for her niece and nephew and teaching them their lessons while they were visiting grandma’s house. She was also dedicated to caring for her partner Doug Thomas and helping many less fortunate people around town by cooking meals and gathering clothes and supplies for them to make their lives better. Kelly loved people above all else and those who knew her were the better for it.

Kelly was preceded to heaven by her grandmother and grandfather Marilyn Duclos and Duke Duclos, her grandmother Miriam W. Alcorn, her cousin Tyler Pinnick and her partner Doug Thomas.

She is survived by her parents, Michael and Suzanne Alcorn, grandfather Robert Alcorn, sister Joanne Estrada (Rafael), niece Ines Estrada, nephews Mathew Estrada and Bryson Gillam-Estrada, aunt Laurie Healy (Cory), uncles Michael Duclos (Katherine), Tom Duclos (Vivian) and Dennis Pinnick, cousins Shelby Healy, Kiera Pinnick, Vince Duclos, Anthony Duclos, Nick Duclos & Jack Duclos, aunt Elizabeth Poulson and cousin Pete Poulson and also her beloved cat, Charlotte.

Private family memorials were held in Arizona and southern California. Her ashes will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Arcata.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.”

We will never forget you, sweet girl.
