As “Scanner Traffic Indicates” noted this morning, the Eureka Police Department, Humboldt Bay Fire and City Ambulance paramedics got very busy in the 3 a.m. hour, responding to an arson call and a stabbing within 30 minutes. (Welcome back, “Just-In.”)
We reached out to EPD spokesperson Brittany Powell for more information on these cases. Here is what she had to tell us about the assault:
On October 5, 2016, at about 3:26 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Broadway for the report of a male that had been stabbed. Officers contacted the male victim who said he was stabbed by an unknown male after refusing to give him money. The victim sustained a non-life threatening stab wound under his arm and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The male suspect was only described as a white male with dark clothing.
And here is what she had to say about the arson call (LoCO reader Sara Rankin also tweeted us about):
At about 3:50 a.m., EPD responded to the 2500 block of Garland Street to assist Humboldt Bay Fire with the investigation of a vehicle fire. Based on evidence found on scene, the vehicle fire is being investigated as an arson.
