Derek Wayne Parker was in a tragic car accident and died from his injuries on September 11, 2016.  

Derek was born August 20,1990 in Eureka, CA to John W. Parker and Suzanne E.Olson.  He was a graduate of Eureka High School and attended College of the Redwoods.  

Derek’s passion was sports, especially baseball.  He learned from the two coaches in his life; his Grandpa Wayne and his dad.  He could recite from memory team players, their stats, what teams won in what division in what year.  His favorite sports teams were all in The Bay: S.F. Giants, Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers.  He would travel to watch them play every chance he had.

Derek is preceded in death by his Grandpa Wayne Parker.

Derek is survived by his parents John W. Parker (Doreen) and Suzanne Olson (Rick), his sister Kasidy Parker, grandparents Shirley Parker and Robert Gish/Joan Rainwater-Gish, his Aunts Vickie Osborne (Steve), Kathy Young (Jerry),and Carol Talbert, and Cousins along with many friends.

A memorial service will be held at Sanders Funeral Home on Friday, September 16th at 1 p.m.  Graveside services will follow, as well as a Celebration of Life at the Moose Lodge.
