From the California Highway Patrol:

On September 17, 2016, at approximately 1204 hours, CHP officers responded to a traffic collision on a private property dirt road near the intersection of Elk River Road and Brauning Lane. 

A 2015 Ford F-250, driven by Charles MacDougal Lawrence, age 82, of Eureka, for reasons still under investigation, collided with a raised dirt embankment, rolled over and came to rest on its roof. As a result of this collision, Lawrence sustained fatal injuries. Lawrence was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to have been a factor in this collision. The California Highway Patrol, Humboldt Area, is investigating this collision.
