Smoke from the 20,000-acre Gap Fire burning in Siskiyou County is blowing through areas of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties today.

The National Weather Service of Eureka reports that the smoke will be thickest in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. But smoke will also be visible in Mendocino and Trinity Counties.

Overnight winds may continue to funnel the smoke into our area for the next few days.

However, the North Coast Air Quality Management District has not issued any health advisories for our area.

The Gap Fire, which ignited in the Klamath National Forest last Saturday, has grown to 20,875 acres and is 14 percent contained.

Advisory evacuations have been issued for residents along Highway 96 between hamburg and Seiad Valley. Residents of Hamburg have also been advised to evacuate.
