A man who was shot on the streets of Eureka last night just before 10 p.m., near the corner of Eighth and N Streets, is being treated at the hospital and is expected to survive, Eureka Police Chief Andy Mills told the Outpost this morning.
Detectives are currently out working leads on the case, Mills said, adding that he did not know if a suspect or suspects had been identified yet. Police were unable to get a good interview with the victim last night, as he was being treated by medical staff.
Mills said that the shooting appears to be have stemmed from a “beef” between the victim and his assailant. He said that detectives are attempting to determine the relationship between the two, but that the shooting does not appear to have been random.
“The motive does not appear to be robbery, nor gang-related or anything like that,” he said.
