In case you missed Thad Greenson’s bombshell post today on new Humboldt County Public Defender David Marcus — staff in open rebellion, lawsuits flying, yet more hinkiness surrounding Marcus’ resume, Supervisor Rex Bohn puffing out his chest — then go read that now.
Then you will have the context you need to read the following, just issued by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors:
When the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors appointed David Marcus as the county’s Public Defender on Feb. 9, the Board requested a date where they could meet with Mr. Marcus and set expectations and goals for the position. That date was today and the Board met with Mr. Marcus in closed session. During this meeting, Mr. Marcus reaffirmed his commitment to carrying out the mission of the Public Defender’s Office, which is to provide aggressive, competent, and ethical representation to indigent persons facing deprivation of liberty or other civil rights in a cost-effective manner.
This was a valuable meeting for the Board to have, and it reaffirmed our commitment to Mr. Marcus as the county’s Public Defender.
