Sometimes cars catch on fire.

Such was the case a few minutes ago when, for reasons unknown, a Volvo in the parking lot for the local Social Security Office on Broadway in Eureka decided to self-immolate. Videographer and friend of the LoCO Chris Smith happened to be nearby and pointed one of his many lenses at the blaze. You can watch the burning above.

Humboldt Bay Fire was quick to the scene and managed to douse the vehicle before it could cause any further damage. The car’s owners told North Coast News they have no idea why their car caught on fire. Huh.
