EPD: Woman Arrested for Burning Down Blue Heron Office Had Prior Disagreement with Property Owner
Eureka Police Department press release:
On August 21, 2017, at about 2:37 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department
responded to the 2200 block of Broadway to assist Humboldt Bay Fire with the
investigation of a fire at a vacated motel office. Witnesses described two females seen
running away from the fire.
While investigating the scene, officers identified 30 year old Eureka resident, Kattie
Yocum, as one of the females who had been seen running from the fire. Based on the
investigation, it appears Yocum set the fire following a disagreement with the property
owner.
Yocum was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for
arson. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Eureka Police
