Mauro Battilocchi was born Feb. 17, 1947 and passed in Aug. 13, 2017. Mauro was born in Bellinzona, Switzerland to Alfred and Antonietta. He came to the United Stated at the age of six and later became a US citizen in 1960.
Mauro grew up in the Arcata Bottoms, where he worked on the Pifferini Dairy. Later he went to work for the Simpson Timber Company until he retired after 43 years.
Mauro met his wife, Carol, in elementary school. They were later to marry on June 23, 1972. They had two boys, Brad and Brian. Mauro instilled in his boys his love of the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and Giants baseball.
Mauro was a man loved by all. Mauro is survived by his wife, Carol, son Brad and wife Cara, son Brian and fiance Dale, grandchildren Lily and Bo, twin brother Sandy and wife Rhonda, niece Shannon, nephew Jeff and many numerous friends. Mauro will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 26 at Azalea Hall in McKinleyville from 2 to 5 p.m.
