Power has been restored.

UPDATE. 5:10 p.m.:

Approximately 400 to 450 residences are still without power.

Resort Improvement District #1 crews are still working to repair the downed power lines across multiple poles.

General Manager of the District Philip Young emails us some technical jargon, saying that cross-arm repairs have been completed, and that 3-Phase power lines are spliced.

“Crews are now working on neutral lines, and then all connections along the distribution line need to be reconnected (air switches and vacuum breakers),” Young said via email. “Phone lines will not be addressed by Frontier until the beginning of the week.”

We don’t know what most of that mean, but basically if you live in Shelter Cove, your power should be restored by 6 p.m.

However, it sounds like your phone lines may be down a while.

We’ll keep updating this post as long as information continues to roll in.

Roughly 400 customers are without power in Shelter Cove after a fir tree fell across Shelter Cove Road this afternoon, snapping power and phone lines in its path.

General Manager of the Resort Improvement District Philip Young tells the Outpost that power should be restored later this evening.

“[The] power outage is NOT due to PG&E outage, and local distribution lines were shredded,” Young said via email. “Shelter Cove Fire teams did a great job of removing fallen tree, and two additional large trees which were threatening the road and restored power lines.”

One-way traffic control was set up between Beach Road and Hillside drive.

We will update when we know more.
