From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 07-25-17 at about 2115 hrs the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team was called out. The Eureka Police Department had located a suspicious object in the gutter near the intersection of 14th and Del Norte Streets. EOD team members responded and located a cylindrical object with what appeared to be caps on both ends.

Team members were able to render the object safe. It was determined the object was possibly an older-style kingpin.
