On Monday June 19, 2017 at about 1507 hours the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a possible drowning at Camp Kimtu in Willow Creek. It was reported a group of three teenaged females were traveling down the river on tubes, yelling for help. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Willow Creek Fire and the California Highway Patrol responded to the incident location for a possible search and rescue. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Special Services, Hoopa Tribal Police Department and the United States Coastguard were also requested to assist. Prior to the arrival of the additional resources all three subjects were located. The subjects were located on the river bar by a good Samaritan who transported them back to their vehicle. All three subjects were unharmed.
