From the Humboldt County Drug Task Force:

Based on an investigation started by Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force they were able to secure a search warrant for 49 year old John Lyman and his 20 year old girlfriend Octobreona Hof. The search warrant included their residence located at a motel in the 800 block of Main Street in Fortuna. The search warrant was for sales of controlled substances.

On June 8th Special Agents learned John was going to meet with a possible narcotics supplies. With the assistance of a Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office Investigator, Special Agents watched as John exited his motel room and entered a vehicle being driven by a man later identified as 41 year old Manuel Mejia-Jimenez.

A traffic enforcement stop was conducted on the vehicle. John and Manuel were detained while the D.A. Investigator and his narcotics detection K-9 conducted a search of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor in the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed 130 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 32 grams of heroin.

John was arrested for possession of a narcotic for sale, possession of a controlled substance for sale, maintaining a residence for the purposes of narcotics distribution and violation of probation. Manuel was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance and transportation of a narcotic.

Special Agents located Octobreona in their motel room and detained her. Inside the room they located scales, packaging material and other items associated with the use and sales of controlled substances. Octobreona was arrested for possession of a narcotic for sale, maintaining a residence for the purposes of narcotics distribution and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.

All three suspects were later transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, where they were booked for the above listed charges.
