I have come to understand that its a strategy that irks most would-be global dominators, but when I embark on a game of RISK I like to pile as many armies as I’m afforded in Australia and then blitzkrieg out from there. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, Australia benefits from its remoteness and the fact that there is only one path invading forces can attack from. Try not to spread that around.

Anyway, odds are high that I’ll have all weekend to experiment with this particular military maneuver ‘cuz, by golly, it looks like a moderate rain’s a-gonna fall, Humboldt.

Our local arm of the National Weather Service — experts on what will fall out of the sky in the future — tell us to enjoy a dry Thursday. That’s going away. Starting Friday afternoon up in Del Norte County and then moving south for Saturday, medium-ferocity rains will dump on the North Coast.  For inland dwellers, expect snow to reach lower elevations on Saturday night.

Seriously, you will not get through Indonesia. Come at me.
