Jim LeVenton, a longtime resident of Fortuna, passed away peacefully at Humboldt House Lodge in Eureka. He was 96 years old.

Jim was born one of five siblings to Irving and Lovey LeVenton in Oak Park Illinois. While working in the mines near Colvill, Wash., he met Agnes Radezky, and they married on July 26, 1948. Agnes proceded him in death on September 1, 1996.

He worked at College of the Redwoods from 1975 to 1990 as their head custodian. Jim was a kind and generous man who went out of his way to help others and he was loved by many.

He was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and was very involved with the Fortuna Congregation.

Survivning Jim are his sister Lovey Shaughnessy, his two sons and wives Louis and Sonja LeVenton, of Lantana, Fla., and Chris LeVenton and Darlene Wright, of Carmel.

Jim will be interred with Agnes at Summit Valley Cemetery near Abby, Wash.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, at the Fortuna Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1475 Ross Hill Rd, Fortuna.
