Gust of up to 40 mph are shaking up trees and likely causing the swath of power outages currently plaguing Humboldt County.
Eureka’s National Weather Service office reports that areas of Humboldt can expect gusts between 30 and 40 mph today.
Nearly 600 PG&E customers are without power after a branch reportedly fell onto a power line near the Eureka Municipal Golf Course, according to scanner traffic.
PG&E reports that Eureka customers’ power should be restored by 4 p.m.
Residents are also without power in Garberville, Carlotta and Fortuna.
The NWS reports that the breezy conditions should subside by this evening.
