51-Year-Old Male from Eureka arrested in Downtown Petaluma with rifle
On October 11, 2017 at 12:15AM a 51 year old male, Travis Morgan was told to leave Gale’s Central Club located at 106 Petaluma Blvd. North by employees of the bar. Morgan was causing a disturbance and acting odd in the bar and as he was walking away from the bar he made a comment about having guns in his car.
A short time later, Morgan was seen by a witness on Western Ave. near American Alley holding an AR-15 assault type rifle. The citizen grabbed Morgan and was able to get the rifle away from Morgan who then ran northbound down American Alley. The citizen who was able to get the rifle from Morgan lost sight of him as he ran down American Alley.
A description of Morgan was dispatched to officers patrolling the downtown area and Morgan was located near 24 Hour Fitness on Petaluma Blvd. North. Officers contacted and arrested Morgan without incident. After placing him under arrest it was reported Morgan discharged the rifle in the downtown area. This was corroborated by the fact 2 rifle casings which matched the rifle Morgan was carrying were located near a Ford F-150 he was also associated with. It was unknown what Morgan was shooting at and no damage was located in the downtown area.
Morgan is currently on Post Release Community Supervision for Being in Possession of Stolen Property. Morgan was booked into Sonoma County Jail for being a felon in passion of a firearm. The AR-15 Morgan was in possession of was from Santa Rosa, attempts are being made to learn if this firearm was recently stolen.
