From the Humboldt County Drug Task Force:
Special Agents with the Drug Task Force were granted a search warrant for two residences and three vehicles related to the distribution and transportation of narcotics. On August 31st, at about 10:00 A.M. Special Agents with assistance from Detectives with Eureka Police Departments Problem Oriented Policing Unit and a D.A.’s Investigator and his K-9 served the warrant.
The target of the investigation, 40 year old Juan Reyes-Perez, was spotted driving one of the vehicles listed on the search warrant, north bound Hwy 101 at Humboldt Hill. A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle was searched pursuant to the warrant.
With the assistance of the K-9, Special Agents located approximately 3 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and just over 2 ounces of suspected heroin hidden within the vehicle.
Reyes-Perez was arrested and booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for possession of a narcotic for sales, transportation of a narcotics, possession of a controlled substance for sale and transportation of a controlled substance.
The first residence searched was in the 100 block of First Avenue in Rio Dell. At this residence Special Agents located a digital scale, packaging materials and other items associated with the distribution of narcotics. In addition Special Agents located $6,835.00 in U.S. Currency hidden within the residence.
At the second residence, which was located in the 2100 block of Riverwalk Drive in Fortuna Special Agents located evidence linking Reyes-Perez to the residence along with pay and owe sheets. They also located $45,673.00 in U.S. Currency. All of the U.S. Currency was seized as it is believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics.
