29-Year-Old Man Killed in Chainsaw Accident Near Trinidad
UPDATE, APRIL 4:
The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in an industrial accident on
April 2, 2018 as 29-year-old Edgardo Tirado-Rangel.
According to witnesses on scene, Tirado-Rangel was clearing brush on a rural property near
Trinidad using a chainsaw when the tool kicked back at him. Tirado-Rangel sustained fatal
injuries.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank crews with CAL FIRE and the California
Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for their assistance in this case.

On April 2, 2018, at about 10:30 a.m., Humboldt County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a
rural property near Trinidad for the report of an industrial accident.
According to witnesses on scene, a 29-year-old male was clearing brush on the property using a
chainsaw when the tool kicked back at him. The victim sustained fatal injuries.
Cal/OSHA and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating this incident.
