A litter of kittens was saved after the owner of a local animal rescue said the cats were tossed from a moving vehicle in Fortuna yesterday.
“What the HELL is wrong with people??!!!!” Shannon Miranda of Miranda’s Rescue wrote on Facebook. “These kittens were tossed out of a moving truck on the way into Fortuna. Thank GOD I got a call that this happened so these poor baby’s [sic] did not spend the night along side the road in a plastic bag.”
Miranda told the Outpost this morning that a good friend of theirs was driving behind a gray truck as it headed down Palmer Boulevard when the people in the truck tossed a grocery bag out the window.
After stopping to investigate, Miranda said their friend found four three-week-old kittens discarded in the bag like trash.
“They were very lucky,” Miranda said. “They’re eating well and being foster fed. I can’t even comment to say what I really want to about these people. It’s beyond sickening that someone could just take a life and chuck it out a window.”
Miranda said the kittens will be available for adoption when they are 8 weeks old, and can be reserved for adoption at 6 weeks.
