From the California Highway Patrol:

On August 8, 2018, at approximately 0312 hours, CHP Officers were dispatched to a report of a body in the roadway on northbound US-101, south of Humboldt Hill Rd.

Upon arrival, a deceased male, 18 year old Hunter Allen of Eureka, was located lying in the roadway. Initially, there was no evidence of a collision located at the scene and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department assumed responsibility of the investigation.

Following an autopsy and follow up by investigators, it was determined that Mr. Allen’s injuries were consistent with having been involved in a collision with a vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol has assumed responsibility for this investigation and is asking for the publics help. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to call the Humboldt Area CHP office at 707-822-5981 or 707-268-2000 (non-emergency dispatch line).
