Today at 5 p.m. was the final day to submit nomination papers to run for Arcata City Council. Four potential candidates made the deadline.
Arcata City Clerk Bridget Dory confirmed with the Outpost today that Mayor Sofia Pereira, Vice-Mayor Brett Watson and Valerie Rose-Campbell all successfully submitted their papers and had all of their signatures verified.
Ryan Dale also turned in his nomination papers today, though as of this evening his signatures have yet to be verified. It seems that Dale really left it down to the wire, judging by his Facebook post today about his signature gathering journey.
KHSU staff member Lorna Bryant, who had previously stated an intent run, has opted not to.
Bryant told the Outpost this evening that she did not wish to comment on her decision at this time, but that she does plans to issue an official comment soon. She did want to say that she wishes luck to all the other candidates.
