From the California Highway Patrol:

In the early morning hours of August 1, 2018, a deceased male was located in the roadway on northbound US-101, south of Humboldt Hill Rd.
During the course of the investigation, the California Highway Patrol has identified a vehicle which was possibly involved in a collision with the deceased male.
The CHP is asking for the public’s help in locating anyone with information on the driver and registered owner of the vehicle. The vehicle in question is a red 1986 Chevrolet Blazer, California license plate 1SBA584.
