The Panthers made it two straight wins on the basketball court on Thursday night, defeating Ferndale 79-29 at McKinleyville High.
Isaac Puzz scored a game-high 29 points in the win, scoring all of them in the first three quarters, as the McKinleyville boys improved to 6-5 on the season.
Puzz was 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
With the lopsided scoreline, the Panthers went to their bench with 12 players getting in on the scoring.
AJ Stubbs finished with eight points, while Jake Reeser and Freddie Sundberg each had six points.
For Ferndale, which dropped to 6-4, Kyler Becksted scored a team-high 10 points, while Gio Magdaleno had nine points, and Cody Sampson six.
Next up for Ferndale is a home game against Round Valley on Dec. 27, while the Panthers open play at the Jamie Angley Tournament against Oroville on the same day.
Arcata 55, Kelseyville 38
The Arcata Tigers got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory over visiting Kelseyville on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Hunter Santsche again led the way for the Tigers, scoring a team-high 12 points, as the team responded with a win less than 24 hours after losing a close game to Hoopa Valley.
Jason Tuermer-Lee had 11 points in the win, while teammate Niko Zambas finished with seven points.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 5-6, while Kelseyville dropped to 2-7.
Next up for Arcata is a game against Huntington Park at the Marin Catholic tournament next Wednesday.
In other prep action this week, the Arcata girls play at St. Bernard’s on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., while the Eureka boys play at St. Bernard’s on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
