From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On 12/23/18 at about 2030 hours a male subject was riding his bicycle across the Highway 96 Orleans Bridge in Orleans when a white passenger van pulled up behind him. An unknown occupant of the van then shot the victim one time in the lower leg. The van made a U-turn and was last seen traveling southbound on Highway 96. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for injuries which appeared to be made by bird shot commonly used in shotguns. The injuries are non-life threatening. At this point the suspect(s) are unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
