The College of the Redwoods women’s basketball team fell to Fresno City 82-56 at the San Jose City College tournament on Friday.

The loss was the second in two days at the tourney for the CR women, who are now 4-8.

“We knew Fresno City was going to pressure us full court for 40 mins and it wore us down throughout the game,” CR assistant coach Darren Turprin said.

Bobbie Purify finished with a team-high 14 points in the loss, including a big first half, while Abiona Katri finished with 12 points and Bree Northern 10.

“We started a little sluggish, but Bobbie stepped up scoring 10 first-half points and gave us some momentum going into halftime,” Turpin said.
