Marijane
(Boak) Johnson
Born in Eugene Oregon, July 11, 1952, passed away
November 19, 2018 at her home in McKinleyville.
Marijane attended Orick Elementary, St. Mary’s and St. Bernard’s High school from 1966-1969 and graduated Arcata High School in 1970.
She worked at Daly’s department store, Barnum Timber, Simpson Pulp Mill in Samoa and was a long-time bookkeeper for the family logging business. Marijane and her husband Mike moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to finish their retirement with the Operating Engineers. She lived there until her mother’s passing an 2012, at which time she returned to Humboldt to care for her family.
Marijane grew up hunting with her father and grandfather, learning the logging business and enjoying her time with her horses. She enjoyed gardening, house boating and water skiing on Trinity Lake, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Bettie Boak and her lifelong friend Kit Perkins. She is survived by her husband Michael Johnson, her sons Bryon Armstrong and Brandon Armstrong both of McKinleyville. Stepdaughter Jennifer Johnson, brothers John Boak (Candace), Bill Boak (Cindy) and sister Kathleen Ausburn (Greg). She leaves behind her grandchildren Derek, Matt (Emily), Katie, Lilly and Brock Armstrong and her great grandchildren Briella and Jacob Armstrong. She leaves numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many dear friends old and new.
The family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Mad River Hospital, Stanford Health Care and Hospice of Humboldt. These remarkable people, all with smiles on their faces and love in their hearts will never be forgotten.
It was Marijane’s wish that in lieu of a service contributions be directed toward the American Cancer Society, Stand Up To Cancer or Hospice.
