From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies recovered a body near Petrolia Wednesday afternoon. On Feb. 21, 2018, at about 4:00 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a hiker who located the body in the Mattole Beach area.

The Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management assisted in recovering the body.

The body is believed to have been deceased for some time and has not yet been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, February 23.
