On Tuesday afternoon the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office issued a brief statement following up on its investigation into a severely decomposed body found near the mouth of the Eel River over the weekend. Read below: 

 

This afternoon, the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the body discovered on Centerville Beach Feb. 24, 2018.

This autopsy revealed that the body is of a male. Preliminary results indicate a cause of death consistent with drowning.

This death remains under investigation.
