Del Brown passed away at home after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 25, 1946, and lived in the Eureka area since age 3. He graduated in the class of 1964 from Eureka Senior High School. Del was a longshoreman locally for 43 years, retiring from the ILWU 10 years ago.

For years Del enjoyed hunting with friends, sometimes on horseback in the mountains, fishing, and working and playing with anything that had an engine. One of his finest achievements was building a hot rod from the ground up in his garage. You might have seen him proudly wheeling around town in the fire engine-red roadster.

Del was preceded in death by his beloved mother Lucretia Bressman, and his grandson Dax Brown.

Del leaves behind his wife Joanne, brothers Carl and Perry, son Donald, daughter Lisa Barry (Curt), granddaughter Kalie and his “little rascal” granddaughter Megan. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces Shelly and Becky and their families in Wisconsin.

A celebration of his life will occur on Sunday, July 22, 1 p.m. at 4029 Walnut Drive for friends and family who wish to stop by and share their fond memories of Delbert.

Delbert will be greatly missed.

Thanks to all at Hospice, Sara and Debbie especially.
