Scattered thunderstorms are forecast for the eastern Emerald Triangle tomorrow.

Eureka’s National Weather Service office reports that the quick-moving storm also has the potential to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail and lightning.

“For those hiking or backpacking try to find sturdy shelter by early afternoon,” the NWS wrote on Facebook. “If you are stuck outside try to lose elevation, and seek out a stand of uniform, short trees/shrubs. Avoid peaks/ridges, isolated or tall trees, water, metallic objects, large boulders, wide open spaces, shallow caves, and rocky cliffs or overhangs.”

The NWS reports that the Trinity County Horn will have the highest chance of being hit by thunderstorms.
