A stabbing victim reportedly walked into Humboldt Bay Fire Station 1 in Eureka this morning seeking medical help.

HBF Battalion Chief Chris Emmons told the Outpost this afternoon that firefighters were out front hoisting the flags when she staggered into to the station just after 8 a.m., screaming and dripping blood from the stab wound to her shoulder.

“It was a significant injury but she was packaged up pretty quick,” Emmons said. “The incident went really fast, she came in and we got her to the hospital within a matter of minutes. It took longer to clean up the blood trail at the station.”

Emmons said the woman told firefighters that a man had attacked her, causing the injury to her shoulder.

The Eureka Police Department is handling the incident as a criminal investigation.
