Press release from College of the Redwoods:

First-time students attending CR in Fall 2018 or Spring 2019 will now have their enrollment fees waived as part of CR’s new College Access Program. To qualify, students must be a first-time college student, a California resident and take 12 or more units per semester. High school students who completed CR classes prior to graduation qualify as first-time College students. To enroll in the program, complete the CR Admissions Application and fill out a FAFSA or Dream Act application.

CR’s President Keith Snow-Flamer said, “CR’s College Access Program is a unique opportunity for the College to waive the enrollment fees of first time students who are registered for 12 units or more.  Given that their second year may also be supported by other state waivers and/or CR scholarships, College of the Redwoods is still the least expensive option for obtaining a quality college education.”

“This is such an advantage for Del Norte and Humboldt County students, both for the financial savings and for the access they have to degrees qualifying them for skilled jobs and for transfer to four-year colleges and universities,” adds CR’s Board of Trustees President Carol Mathews.

Under the state-funded initiative AB 19, returning students do not qualify for the College Access Program, but a large percentage of CR students will still qualify for a waiver of their enrollment fees through the California College Promise Grant (formerly known as the Board of Governor’s Waiver - BOG) which is awarded based on household income.
