Were you one of the Rio Dell folks who received a knock on the door from “Siskiyou Family Energy”? Yeah, the Rio Dell Police Department looked into that and came to the below conclusions::

The City of Rio Dell has become aware of door‐to‐door salespersons walking Rio Dell neighborhoods this afternoon asking residents to sign up for something called “Siskiyou Family Energy” (S.F.E.) to save money on their gas bill. We are being told they may be asking to see your PG&E bill, may be engaging in “hard sell” tactics and some may feel pressured into signing up for this service.

Please remember that nobody should feel pressured to sign anything or to provide information to someone walking up to their door. The Rio Dell Police Department has made contact with these individuals. We have no evidence that these individuals are engaged in a scam or other illegal activity and they are most likely a “Core Gas Aggregation Service” i.e. a third party attempting to sell gas.

PG&E is mandated to allow these Core Transport Agents (CTAs) to operate and offer service. CTAs are in charge of marketing their own services. They are not affiliated with the City.

Concerned residents are advised to call 1‐800‐PGE‐5000 to check on the status of their gas services.
