The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly dealing with a situation involving an armed man at the Crescent Beach Motel closed Highway 101 south of Crescent City.

The following alert was sent out by the DNCS at 9:56 a.m.:

The Del Norte Sheriff’s Office is currently dealing with an armed individual at the Crescent Beach Motel.

The area will be blocked to traffic. Avoid the area and use alternative routes. We will advise further information when available.

The Outpost received reports that this incident began at the Play Station 777 at the Blue Lake Casino this morning, but we have been unable to verify this information. An employee at the Play Station 777 said he could not comment and a message left with a Blue Lake Rancheria employee has not yet been returned.

Kym Kemp reports that a man armed with a shotgun was allegedly confronted by employees of the Play Station 777 this morning. The man reportedly fled to a vehicle and a high speed chase north on Highway 101 ensued.

Messages left with the Humboldt and Del Norte County Sheriff’s Offices have not yet been returned. The Del Norte County dispatch was only able to confirm the above alert.
