Eureka Police Department officers arrested convicted child molester Randy Charles Knopf on the 1300 block of 3rd street yesterday at 11:33 p.m. for failing to register as a sex offender.

According to Knopf’s Megan’s Law profile, he was previously found guilty of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old, and annoying or molesting a child after being convicted of a prior sex offense. EPD was unable to give out many details about the case, but spokesperson Suzanne Owsley told the Outpost that Knopf is a transient in the area.

According to a Knopf’s risk-assessment score, he is considered to have a “high” chance of reoffending. His last conviction was in 1999.

Knopf scored a 26 on his LS/CMI assessment in 2014. | California Megan’s Law website
