Jessie S. Laurendeau, age 90 of Eureka, passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2018 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was born April 27, 1928 to William and Mable (Moxon) McMillan and raised in Samoa/ Eureka. She graduated from Eureka High School, Humboldt State University and then Nursing school. She returned home and actually nursed alongside with her mother.
She married the love of her life George Laurendeau in 1957. They moved to Los Angeles for a few years but eventually returned home to raise their four children and continue her life’s work. She has had so many accomplishments, awards and did so much for her community, that it would take the entire newspaper for it all to be listed. She will always be remembered as the Registered Nurse she was for 62 years. She also held jobs as Director of Nurses, Administrator and teaching many future nurses in her CNA classes. She gave so much and taught many people new things. She retired (twice), traveled several places with her husband of 56 years and enjoyed their travels with many friends they loved dearly.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, George Laurendeau, her two sons Bill and Mike Laurendeau and her sister Joan Klopp. She is survived by her son, Daniel Laurendeau of Portland, OR, her daughter Louise Laurendeau of Lawton, OK, brother-in-law Frank Klopp of McKinleyville, CA, grandchildren Michelle and husband Miles Barnes of Medford, OR, Roger and wife Rachel Mathews of Lawton, OK, Paige Mathews of Lawton, OK, Shayla and Kelsey Laurendeau of Portland, OR, great grandchildren Bentley and Conor of Lawton, OK, Emma and Lincoln of Medford, OR as well as several nieces and nephews and many many friends.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life to be held at the Red Lion Hotel, Eureka on Saturday Nov. 10th at 2:00pm.
