So many candidates, so many forums! Fourteen people are currently competing to serve as either Eureka’s mayor, a representative on its city council, or as most of the city’s representative on the Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District.

A lot of candidates means a lot of gabbing, and it’s time once again for us to publish a list of times and places where you can hear the candidates take your questions and make their pitches.

Forums sponsored by the Rotary Club will be facilitated by the League of Women Voters, and will take place at the Elks Lodge (445 Herrick Avenue). Lunch is $15, but you can show up and watch the candidates for free.

Forums under the heading of “Progressives,” below, are hosted by a coalition of seven local progressive organizations and labor unions. They’ll be held at the Eureka Labor Temple (840 E Street).

Forums under the heading of “League of Women Voters” are the classic LWV forums that are broadcast live on KEET-TV (channel 13) and KHSU radio (90.5 FM), and archived by Access Humboldt for later playback. They take call-in questions from viewers while the show is happening, and you can email your questions for the candidates in advance to production@keet-tv.org.

Remember: This year it matters what ward you live in! If you’re uncertain, check the Outpost’s handy-dandy interactive map.
